Lucy Movie Ending Explained

with 47 comments

After a long time I saw a movie that made me sit down with a pen and paper. Although I have pondered over expanding brain usage in the past but never really went down the road of What if 100%? Lucy went that way and I must say I liked what I saw.

The ending kind of seems puzzled (deliberately so like other movies of this genre). What happens at 100% brain usage can’t anyways be fathomed by us mere 10% souls. 100% goes beyond dimensions and into the meta-physical. Let me try and explain the ending or what I could make of it.

1. Disappearance of Lucy
Lucy already was able to control her body and also matter by that time. Since body is also made of matter, disappearing/disintegrating sounds not that difficult. As she explained earlier maybe she went faster than speed of light which opens all dimensions but invisible to us. As to what happened to her post that is what we will explore ahead.

2. Why make the Super-Computer if all that was left was a pen-drive?
Seems silly on the face of it. Seems like director tried to simplify for the audience and hence the pen drive. Or maybe Lucy thought for current world pen-drive would seem easy to grasp.

What happened was Lucy started merging matter around her as she needed energy. Energy equals mass time speed of light squared. A lot of energy to upload all knowledge she could gather from the starting of time.

Energy was needed not just to create the processing unit for that knowledge but also to convert it into a format understood by normal humans. The pen-drive seems simplistic but it could not have been a simple pen drive. It would need to store huge amount of data maybe TB powers 100 for all we know. All knowledge gathered as she moved through time.

That computer was just for processing data to be able to store into pen drive. Hence computer destroyed itself at the end.

3. If she is so super human and could control time. Why did she die?
Here’s the catch. She did not die. She imbibed herself to all dimensions. She had no need for the body. She can’t feel pain. No happiness. More like a robot. Hence she gave up last piece of vulnerability. Her body. She became omnipresent. Across dimensions, across time, across worlds.

4. Everything she gained was due to her brain. How would she survive now without her brain?
Tricky! She would have what was required. Brain is also matter. She converted her brain along with her body into some other form, which we even don’t know. The meta-physical, omnipresent form. Can be equated to our understanding of God. Invisible to us.

  1. Hey dear, I watched Lucy twice now. Got it some more clear way.. nd have some questions to ask. Since u hv explained nicely, my questions for you may be –
1.At first she said billion years ago we had given this life, and what we did with this …. What is that refer to….
1A- I mean what we did, what we should and not?? And
1B- who has given this life to us? Is it God?
    2. If she made herself omnipresent at everywhere by converting herself into invisible form of matter, is there any matter available which is in not visible form??
3- and according to the movie if a drug enhances the brain capacity than it can be used in good measure for better purposes of mankind like we seen in the movie limitless of Bradley Cooper.. dont u see there have some major similarity in between these two movies???

  2. I was just watching Lucy (again) and had some thoughts regarding the ending of the movie.

I think there were actually two different threads at the end. In one, Lucy is travelling back in time, present day Paris to not quite present day New York (which is why she was able to go back and forth in time while she was in Times Square), to 19th century New York to the formation of the moon (I skipped a few steps) to the beginning of the universe (the Big Bang).

The second thread is Lucy going back in time to HER beginning. Thus the cells un-dividing is her travelling back to her own beginning, Lucy was observing herself in the womb, going back in time until she could see herself as the very first cell of her existence.

Lucy couldn’t understand the entirety of the universe until she had experienced it from the present to its beginning. Any she couldn’t “transend” until she could understand the entirety of her own existence which she couldn’t do until she had experienced IT from the present to her own beginning.

  3. Lucy movie concept has been diverted into computers and all, it’s right that all knowledge she gathered is shown through her brain but that’s not the truth………. Soul is the master of human body with comes heart and brain together and what said in the end that it’s a Divine,,,,, in the sense twin flames…. Mirror of our own self when two true twin souls meet and merge again become one after eons of struggle then they reach to God consciousness which comes out from unconditional love, humanity whole earth one family and no kind of parshality……… Brain would get a lot of head ache and make human ill to death if there is any kind of 100%tige this movie has not been shown in true manner and creating more confusion for humans. Do not bang your head upon this movie truth is completely opposite

  6. I believe when she said “We were given life a billion years ago, now you know what to do with it.” She was referring to time. In others words, life is about time. We were told in the movie without time we would not exist. Speed up time and there is no evidence of existence. So I believe she was trying to say now you know how important time is, use it well

    • Yours is a perfectly plausible explanation.
I feel it was more related to answer to the ultimate question, “Why we are here?”.

    • She projects that everything exists now, all present, past, and future. In waving her hand as moving through a file strip choosing where to be at in time or any time. Seeing all that is as it is. Self awareness at a non physical level. 5th dimension. I’m sure there is more speculation to this but my two cents. Once’s opinion is their own reality!

  8. The other side to things are the Asian philosophies from this link : http://www.thisisbarry.com/#!Lucy-2014-Explained/ce4s/56a4cf970cf22a61ccc963b7

Dvaitam: Is the concept that most of the world follows. There is a divine power and there are the creations of the divine power. This is dualism.

Advaitam: Is the concept of one single reality. Atman (the living soul) is the same as Bhraman (single reality). What life is, is merely an illusion that we perceive. Everything living is merely a combined conscience. To get to that realization is deemed attaining Nirvana.

Vishishtadvaitam: is the concept of one single reality too. The difference is that here we have the divine power has multiplicity. This means the living exist in a pseudo-singular existence, but death causes the being to unite with the single reality.

  9. I wish to remain completely off the radar, as this subject is broadly known having required many individual parties from around our planet for this legacy which for a while I was not aware was a prophecy…(metropolis movie) and a recycled one through the ages of creations and destruction. Lucy is the alias name given to me ….but in Greek my real name means heaven. I am not Greek. I am half primitive and half new world. I was born of science not natural conception. I am a small handful of genetics that were extremely healthy, mutable and adaptable due to my strange DNA combination of conception (created by the mobile world) Some people see me as the Nordic God Hel/Gehenna, others see me as Lady Liberty, others see me as the queen of Babylon, but the title I could not handle was witch, because of my strong faith, which they tested, knowing not to tempt The Lord who remains my brother friend and angel. To test the subject Lucy under classified circumstances did nothing but create a supernatural public liability and to tame the powers this evolution caused was impossible without begging God for the mercy to make it stop…but this grandiose journey came from grandiose money. It was realised that this substance (the same one that made the show limitless possible) can cause the entire brain mass to be used in synchronicity. Take for example a ct scan on the average brain, the matter in the brain shows bipolar and skitsophrenia to produce a colourful almost rainbow like brain activity in the resulting image. The grey matter that is unused is shown on these scans as a dullish blue. A shaman recognises these magnetic fields which attract and compliment positive and negative cellular energy, so to be treated like a mental patient is an insult to my traditions and customs being half black and white. To be medicated to stop such a harvesting of energy gives me comfort. I can share hundreds of details that can clarify the identity behind this story but that is a book alone, one only I can write in perfection. The USB drive at the end was to represent the 3000pages odd worth of info a PC is used to dissect double helix strands within human DNA-(see dead famous DNA) It was a blood sample that was as black as tar and the story goes deeper into the answers of our universe as we know it. The alchemy to create this shape shifting blood was purely found by accident in the eyes of Lucy and the elitists, but you can not merely cram 3months of fighting for your life into a 2hr odd film. Much is missing, but every word in this film has been scripted from a real identity. A girl who survived the impossible & not just survived, thrived in Gods mercy when challenged. 3 sentences were wrong, the colour of the cat with the broken tail when speaking to her mother, the fact she had never driven before is false, her motor skills were well developed before this phenomena, she’s of good stock and quite athletic, and immortal doesn’t not mean invincible for eternity, and that the laws of space & time are governed by time alone…false, they are governed by a higher being, a predominantly positive field and subsequent mutation, and the 10% was a myth to show our untapped potential. The rest holds basis. I could answer many questions but the fact remains, the “Order” can not pick such a prophetic identity…they must come to know who it is, since prophecy requires a certain amount if faith, a word which requires the belief with or without evidence. This is where they failed to effect Lucy. She is chosen therefor invincible to those who doubt she is safe guarded in multiple dimensions for the purpose of these epiphanies. She is ruthless and yet kind. Many know now who she is in elite circles yet in the real world the closest to her knowledge u will see is the evolution of scientific and military knowledge. Grandiose as it seems it involves grandiose money for retelling such as story, but it is fact, Lucy is here and many had to conceal her. This subject was older then real life Lucy which she came to know eventually. What she’s achieved is now left classified. The world is not ready for gods natural selection in the field if science, but it is essential for our changing world for this to occur. We are the Brave new world facing our own demise. So many facts remain in my existence that it can not be miscalculated anymore. I exist and I’m far more primitive then they imagined. But only in the soul. I am educated by the western world and self made by it’s flaws. There is no weakness I can’t muster in others. This is why I have been neutralised. But in my heart my cause is for our allies, and for that what I have given is priceless. It will outlive me. I will live on. I can not have children, but I leave still a legacy. May God speed our governments of western society & our known allies. This remains anonymous because the world isn’t ready for this. I’m reminded all the time.

  10. It is not that we only use 10% of our brain
but that we only access 10% of different
parts at a time. That’s why when Lucy says
“right now all you feel is pain”, when she
thrusted the knives in his hands, she’s
referring to a certain 10% of the brain
that is now induced in emotion, kicking out
other 10% that could use logic or “fight or
    flight” respons.

    We are capable of
accessing all of our brain. Just not all at
    once.

I guess we don’t know the meaning of time though.

  11. god i just have to say its an amazing movie blew my mind. i guess that 100% brain capacity wud merely change the existence of life and matter. for all we know is zero.

  12. Well i searched for what happens at the movie’s ending and came to this.
I was expecting some correlations to the theories i had in mind, but you didn’t even remotely mention them.

Obviously, the 10% brain function theory is a myth so everything related to that is a myth too. There is no way we can attain such supreme state by achieving higher brain function. Yeah controlling one’s own metabolism, even telepathy could do but controlling matter, well… Let’s not dwell on that and come to the point.

Overlooking that myth, there is something very interesting shown at the end once she starts going back in time.

Beyond the creation of moon and earth and sun, the entire galaxy along with other galaxies start going back to a singularity (big bang’s origin).
They showed huge gas clouds in group going back to single point. I think those were the prototypes of what would later form galaxies.

But then, they go beyond big bang singularity into another dimension and show a tube with two ends going into second dimension.
That’s the theory of two parallel universes: The big bang created two universes – one that moves forward and other moves relatively backwards in time. Then in distant future the universe will again collapse back and another big bang will happen. And eventually those two are gonna connect and so on.

And then, in the background, there are many other such tubes: That’s the multiverse. I believe that is what they showed there: Everything is going in parallel circles.

    • since eternity, we have been trying to understand “why we are here?” or what is the meaning of life. Lucy when broke all the barriers and became the unity, she knew the meaning.

she transferred this knowledge to the scientists. so she told people now they also know what to do with life.

thought it is not explained in the movie as in reality we still dont know the answer.

    • The last line in the movie seemed flat and uninspiring. After watching the movie we wanted to come up with a possible more thoughtful ending to share as well as to start a thread for others to add their thought for a fine ending.

“If you had or were the source, what would you do with it?”

  16. Movie is great.
Human sub conscious mind is active more than 10% during dreams.(about 20-25%)
And those humans poccess lucid dreams then there mind active more than 30% during lucid dream.
So there states where human mind can active more than 10%.

    • As I understood, Lucy was able to move across the timeline. She stood at one place and was able to move across thousands of years in the past.

What we saw was how the place changed over the years.

I dont recall everything as it has been some time since I saw the movie. But this is what I remember.

  20. We only use 10% of our conscious brain, the other 90% is delegated to autonomic (automatic) bodily processes such as breathing, metabolism, involuntary movement, etc. So in a way, yes we only have access to that 10%

  21. but this 10 % and 100 % thing is not true (or proved)..human brains involve activities which is far greater than 10%..I mean this 10 pc thing was purely a figment of imagination…(or if true can be termed as someone’s very lucky guess)..in fact studies have shown that we use our brain more than 10% of our capacity but then this 100% capacity is very difficult to be determined.

Interestingly, the oriental cultures: Hinduism, Buddhism and Chinese/Japanese philosophy set aim to achieve absolute nothingness….the aim is to achieve a state where brain has almost no activity, close to 0%…and that is the level where everything is one….no synergy of matter but complete assimilation…

Two opposing theories..though it can be very much like a cycle where 0% comes only after 100%…

            • Lucy, as she was traveling at the end, she was still gaining more power…that’s why it eventually said 100%…what happened at the very end, she traveled back so far, that she made it to the instant of creation, otherwise known as the Big Bang and inserted herself into the very first cell/atom what have you so that with the creation of existence, she would be a part of it all….she gained omnipetence as now the known universe is an integral part of her and vice versa.
